“Writing has always been a source of joy for me.
Throughout my life, language as a medium has bloomed.
Words transfix me, like fine perfume and musical notes,
they have a tantalizing quality all their own,
luringly colorful, with cadence and passion.
They are truly an extension of our creative consciousness.
I am honored my husband, Roland, gives me full choice among
the vast treasures in his portfolio to illustrate my poetry.
Many of these poems have been written on the island of St. Martin,
in the French West Indies, my husband’s birthplace.
The Richardson family is among the founding families of St. Martin from the 1700’s.
I’ve learned through my marriage, the uniqueness of their West Indian
culture and traditions. I hope this little compilation of poems offers you a glimpse
of the profound and abundant beauty that defines Paradise to me.”

This poem I delightfully pondered years ago still dances through my head whenever I observe Roland, day after day for thirty years, devoted to his constant flow that improves our lives, our home and our family.
The world is small and quiet and infinite and limitless.
Have no fear for I am always there
under every stone teeming with life, …
Old markings on a sprawling tree
declare love’s ageless mystery.
Young hearts joined in frivolity…
A turtle stuck his head out
but when he saw the outside world
he tucked it right back in
for there was a man…
