Poem & Praise for Father’s Day
Roland and Radiance, 2002
This poem I delightfully pondered years ago still dances through my head whenever I observe Roland, day after day for thirty years, devoted to his constant flow that improves our lives, our home and our family.
It’s Nice to Have a Man Around
It’s nice to have
a man around
especially if
he doesn’t frown
and sometimes plays
the funny clown.
When I’m feeling low,
he always seems
to know just what to say,
to wash my blues away.
It’s nice to have
a man around
who’s quiet, thinking, growing
and always sowing,
sowing all his seeds,
to satisfy our needs,
and when he’s feeling down,
he makes me want
to play the clown.
It’s nice to have
a man around,
who takes time out
to play,
his books, his plants,
his songs, his dance,
to round out
every day enough to say…
It’s nice to have
a man around
whose arms he gently
wraps around my heart
in every way.
