Parlez-vous français?

Being in France this past week has us reevaluating, rebalancing and rekindling passions woven throughout our 27 years of matrimony together.

France has always been awarded for its fashion, food and flowers. Over many years, it has risen to the top for its healthy lifestyle, endless walking, local wines and natural wonder.

Color is splendid in a natural setting.  One can observe all spectrums in the natural landscape.

Walking in the fragrant jardin de Centre Ville in Geoux-les-Bains,  one is charmed by the chant of thousands of roses in a spectrum from white to red with many bands of delicate pink popping through wrought iron gates, beckoning a stroll through their public garden.

Nooks and crannies through ancient portals dating back to the 12th century have you disbelieving that so much of our life in the 21st century is anchored in visiting each other via Wifi rather than just stepping next door.

With great admiration, this community supports thousands of beautiful plants suspended from flower pots, lining shuttered window sills and stone door steps.

It has been six years since we have had the privilege to return to France. This week we are featuring a few of Roland’s rare and beautiful French “Plein Air” paintings he has created throughout his lifetime, particularly in Mimizan which is a beach community located in Le Lands, on the west coast of France, renowned for its abundant, award-winning gardens.

Every day brings a new variety of subject as the shadows change and the garden grows and shifts in the direction of the sun.

Next week, we will share a few of Roland’s newest creations inspired by the southern landscape of Provence France 2022. We hope you enjoy this magical journey with us!
