Roland and Laura on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Many of Roland’s devoted collectors have enjoyed time with Laura Richardson, his beloved wife of 25 years.
We thought it would be a fun to share a little window to their life together to launch this special commemoration of our website.

If you inquire by email, Laura will surely be the first to respond but Roland is always an integral part to the thoughts behind their response. They often enjoy these communications together.

This past June 26, 2020, they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

Roland and Laura were introduced by friends within their world of art in 1992.
Laura was a gallery owner and art consultant in Virginia outside of Washington DC at the time.
Roland was already quite recognized for his beautiful “Plein Air” work, while also acting as Editor-in-Chief of Discover St. Martin which he helped found 10 years earlier.

On a sunny morning, June 26, 1995, they applied at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia for their marriage license.
Unbeknownst to them, within the hour, they decided to marry suddenly when they met a lovely Justice of the Peace marrying other couples. Completely unexpectedly in shorts and a sundress, without even wedding bands, they took vows from the heart that have been with them ever since.

Laura got nervous riding home about telling everyone but Roland comforted her by saying,
“Don’t worry, one day everyone will know you as Laura Richardson.”
Today, they thank God for their spontaneious decision and this blog officially makes Roland’s prophesy come true!

For their 25th anniversary, Laura wrote to him:

For my King of Hearts,
Thank you for the promises you made 25 years ago on a summer day when we hardly expected to start our marriage – on the spot! How wonderful we took that leap of Faith. Thank God. ⁣
My love, Laura

Before and since, the couple have helped raise their five beautiful children together while staging shows in many countries and especially St. Martin. They truly look forward to helping you in partnership, devoted to encouraging Roland and Laura’s lifelong creative process.

Most of all, they thank you for your loving support and will will always do their best to bring beauty and goodness forward to their very global circle of friends and collectors.

Thank you for this special opportunity to share with you.
