Christmas Sunshine

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas filled with Joy for the Season!

Our holiday this year is highlighted by one of our happiest professional and personal experiences, painting with our Sunshine Kids!

The Sunshine Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to children with cancer. They provide positive group activities and emotional support for young cancer patients.

Some Sunshine Kids have just completed their strenuous cancer treatments. Others are in the midst of it. They are dear friends to one another, supportive through their challenges and aspire to have fun together!

We thought it would be fun to teach the children Still Life painting so they might create unique gifts for their loved ones for Christmas.

Our adventure began by draping a 10ft table with Caribbean madras and adding live poinsettias, fresh fruits, evergreens, Santas and shiny ornaments for a festive mélange to make them smile.

It was also the first time the children had ever been to the new Sunshine Kids Southwest Florida Headquarters in Naples which was beautifully dressed and showered loving gifts and fresh-baked Christmas cookies to decorate upon arrival.

A team of cheerful volunteers helped prepare for the children's arrival, setting their workstations with paints, brushes, water and canvas.

Roland is dedicated to making each student's experience unique, helping them to see more consciously. They work only with the primary colors - red, yellow, blue - and white so that all other colors can be creatively mixed from those.

These amazing students waited, eager to begin.
This still life project was like starting the kids off with a 2000 piece puzzle with hundreds of different angles and reflections of light on the festive glass, flowers and fruit arrayed on madras cloth.

It was like starting them playing a symphony on their first violin lesson.
THEY JUMPED RIGHT IN!

Our Sunshine Kids expressions were as rewarding as their wonderful Impressions. Who ever knew Still Life painting could be such a JOY!
