“From my first encounter, I have always had a deep attachment to this island gem, surrounded by living turquoise, soft white sand and gentle sea breeze. Working at La Samanna is a true gift to me.
Their 55 acres of lush tropical gardens and views like portals to Paradise have always been a source of inspiration. This beautiful property offers me one of the most unique opportunities in summer to paint the firey red blooms of the flamboyant tree against the mesmeric turquoise sea.
Back in 1970, I returned to my native island of St. Martin after university and some years of teaching with the serious intent of becoming an exceptional artist of the Caribbean. Travel and tourism was just beginning, and La Samanna was a dream being built.
My first exhibit opened with their premiere culinary festival and our collaboration has grown ever since. Today, I am privileged to have my paintings and drawings magically incorporated into many of La Samanna’s elegant rooms and suites.
I am thrilled to debut a new exhibit of my creations to celebrate the reopening of this grand resort for the 2021 season.
Carefully curated to communicate the rich and abundant Caribbean subject, over 50 original “Plein Air” paintings, hand-pulled etchings and fine art giclees are displayed in La Samanna’s Rendezvous Pavillon Conference Center and throughout the resort’s public spaces.
